How to Make Watermelon Juice

It’s really as simple as adding to a blender and blending it up!

But there are a few tricks to learn to ensure success every time:

  • Use ripe, juicy, sweet watermelon (this is key for best flavor!)
  • Choose a seedless watermelon, or remove seeds before blending
  • A high-speed blender is quickest and easiest (we don’t recommend a food processor)
  • Straining is optional if you prefer a smoother juice; however, we don’t find it necessary
  • Like cold juice? Scoop and refrigerate your watermelon BEFORE blending so it’s cool and refreshing and ready for serving right away

Health Benefits

Ever wonder why watermelon feels so refreshing on a hot summer day?

That’s in part because it’s 92% water! But it’s also rich in potassium, which is an electrolyte that can be lost in sweat.

Watermelon also contains a variety of antioxidants (such as lycopene, vitamin C, and beta-carotene), magnesium, vitamins B1 and B6, and more!

What To Do With Watermelon Juice

It’s the perfect drink for sipping on hot days! If you can’t enjoy it right away, store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 2-3 days.

Or, freeze into ice cube molds and blend into smoothies, margaritas, or frozen cocktails, or use as ice cubes in sparkling water or tonics for a delicious and colorful surprise!

Ingredients

  • 1 small watermelon (seedless) (1 small watermelon yields ~5 cups or 492 g cubed)
  • 1-2 Tbsp lime juice (optional)

OTHER ADD-INS (optional)

  • Fresh ginger
  • Coconut water

Instructions

  • It’s important to select a ripe, juicy, sweet watermelon (this is key for best flavor!). Choose a seedless watermelon, or remove seeds before blending
  • If you prefer chilled watermelon juice, scoop and refrigerate your watermelon BEFORE blending so it’s nice and cool and refreshing and ready for serving right away (optional).
  • Add sliced watermelon to a high-speed blender and blend on high until well blended. You can add a bit of lime juice to taste at this point if you’d prefer some acidity. Or include other optional add-ins such as fresh ginger for zing or coconut water for sweetness and electrolytes.
  • Straining is optional (we recommend a fine mesh strainer) if you prefer a smoother, pulp-free juice. We don’t find it necessary, though.
  • Enjoy fresh or over ice. If you can’t enjoy it right away, store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 2-3 days. Or, freeze into popsicles or ice cube molds. Watermelon ice cubes can be blended into smoothies, margaritas, or frozen cocktails or used as ice cubes in sparkling water or tonics for a delicious and colorful treat!

This is not how you would make good watermelon juice! you have to grab a blender , a good watermelon, some lime, and some sort of sparkling water (ex: ramblers, club soda, tonic water , etc.) (after you blend the watermelon , ice, lime and water) Then you would also have to add ice the you just blend!!!!! Once you put it in the cup I recommend to put some mint leaves on top or some lime wedges enjoy!

  2. Colette says

Super quick and yummy. The second batch I just blended a half lime right in (rind and all and it was delish – and extra tart).

  3. Lilian B says

The first time I made watermelon juice (on a whim, when having too much watermelon to eat on my own), I was shocked to discover that the classic watermelon candy flavor was actually accurate! Turns out concentration levels make a huge difference in flavor, hah!
