Supa thick.
Supa chocolaty.
Supa cherry-y?
Let’s do this.
If you’ve ever wanted more out of your almond milk, this recipe is for you. I am kind of a chocolate milk fanatic and have made my own from scratch before. But, as Anna (my favorite beauty blogger) would say, “I can’t be bothered” with making it from scratch every day. Therefore,
Almond Breeze + selected mix-ins = DIY flavored almond milk in minutes
This version was inspired by the genius that is Artful Desperado. Have you seen what Gabriel is cooking up these days? Just go – go now. After seeing his Black Forest Popsicles, I had to get in on that action.
Because I’m more of a beverage than popsicle girl, almond milk was the perfection solution.
Lucky for me (and you), there’s no waiting involved here. Just a creamy, delicious chocolate-cherry beverage in your hands in minutes.
Other perks? It’s
Vegan
Gluten-free
Naturally sweetened
& Deceptively healthy
For aesthetic effect, I blended them separately for more of a chocolate-cherry swirl. But for the lazy ones among us, you can just throw it all in together for the perfect blend.
This milk is the jam. It’s
Refreshing
Chocolaty
Cold
Creamy
Cherry-infused
Rich
Healthy
Uncomplicated
Fast
& Customizable
Guess what? If you freeze your cherries this would make a bomb smoothie. But for the weirdos who like their milk with ice (hand raised!), this route works just fine.
One last note! If you make this recipe, take your best picture and tag it #minimalistbaker on Instagram. It’ll be like having a virtual chocolate milk party. Join ze fun!

- 1 cup pitted cherries (frozen for more of a smoothie texture)

- Add a few ice cubes to your serving glasses and top with cherry milk (or do it in the reverse order). Drink immediately.

This was seriously amazing! I was not expecting it to be so wonderful. Surprisingly so!

Lovely. Might I ask where you get your straws? Are they fairly strong and/or re-usable?
Sonali says
Hi there- how long would this typically keep in the fridge? Thanks! I made it already and it’s delish.
Rakhee@boxofspice says
I love cherries and them in with chocolate and almond milk?!! Ah that spells heaven to me! Love the idea! :)
Hannah says
This totally just happened in my kitchen this morning….heavenly. I added a little bit of leftover cashew/almond milk cream I had in the fridge from latte-making, and it took this to the next level of creamy. I dare say this tastes just as good (or maybe better) as my favorite real-dairy chocolate milk from Earth Fare which I cannot, sadly, drink anymore.

So great! Thanks for sharing!
Cat says
Delicious! Except I just whizzed it all up together as I didn’t have quite enough cherries, it’s so refreshing! How yummy would it be made in to a iced coffee too, mmmm.

I just wanted to say that I love this idea so much! I tried it with strawberries because I didn’t have any cherries. It was great!! Quick question though. How long do you think it will keep?
Thanks for any help that is given! By the way, I am in love with the website! Everything I have tried has been a big hit. Some of my family members aren’t into “healthier” options. But they like these recipes!! Thanks for all the hard work that goes into each post!!
Dana @ Minimalist Baker says
Thanks Ruth! You’re too kind. I think this would keep for a couple days in the fridge. But as always, it’s best fresh.
Ruth Holliday says
Thank you for the reply! I will keep the “freshness” in mind.
Kelli @ Wandering Root says
I absolutely love chocolate and cherry as a flavor combination. My favorite “treat smoothie” is frozen cherries with chocolate protein, almond/coconut milk and chia seeds. So anything that reminds me of that is a winner in my book!

Funny how I was just watching Anna! Can’t wait to try this :)

Chocolate and cherries, my fave combination :)
Mikaela says
Can I use my food Processor for this? No blender…x
Dana @ Minimalist Baker says
It won’t get it completely creamy, but it will still be delicious!

I made today a slighty different version of this, because I saw the recipe and photos and had to do it inmediately with the ingredients I have right now, it turned out delicious and really earthy: i used raw cacao powder -this one provided the earthy taste- , used amaranth and oat milk, cinammon, and vainilla. :) The raw cacao gives a very strong bitter flavor, but I like it too. I think that with cocoa it would turned out more ‘chocolately’
Can’t wait to try it out with the cherries and almond milk :
Thank you. :)

Milk with ice! YES! I do this every single day and I thought I was the only one. Whew! This looks amazing, girl! Ugh, I LOVE chocolate milk.
Aimee B. says
Leigha, I love ice in my milk, too! Actually, I will put ice in pretty much any beverage, even wine coolers. My hubby just gives me strange looks, but I like my drinks cold, lol! You’re definitely not alone. :)
Dana @ Minimalist Baker says
Glad I’m not alone!
Medha @ Whisk & Shout says
Yum! Chocolate and cherries is a favorite of mine. I used to gobble down BAGS of chocolate covered cherries in elementary school.
